RESUMPTION OF PUBLIC MASSES AT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CHURCH From next Sunday 6 December, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church will be open at 9.30am for Mass at 10.00am on Sundays and from Wednesday 9 December at 9.00am for Mass at 9.30am on Wednesdays. Also, as next Tuesday 8 December is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there will be an additional Mass at 9.30am. In order to ensure that all those attending Mass can have a seat and be safely accommodated inside the church, please book in by ringing 07388 814715, Monday – Wednesday, 11am – 6pm. Please be advised this telephone number does not accept text messaging. To maintain a fair system, you are asked to book your place in advance on a weekly basis via this telephone number.
For those attending church for Mass, the wearing of a face covering is mandatory unless a person has an exemption from this. When travelling to and from, entering and inside places of worship, people should observe strict social distancing from anyone not in their household. In addition, the usual guidance on hygiene, hand sanitising and people with symptoms not attending church applies at this time.
PROPOSED CHRISTMAS MASSES AT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CHURCH Government regulations permitting, we are planning to have two Parish Christmas Masses at Immaculate Heart Church – 7.00pm on Christmas Eve 24 December (now fully booked) and 9.30am on Christmas Day 25 December. There will also be Mass at 10.00am on Sunday 27 December (Feast of the Holy Family). Booking in for these Masses is essential. To ‘book in’ please ring 07388 814715, Monday – Wednesday, 11am – 6pm. Please be advised this telephone number does not accept text messaging. When booking in, you will be asked for the date of the Mass you wish to attend, your name, telephone number and the number in your party. For test and trace purposes, these details will be retained for 21 days, then securely destroyed. Please note there will also be Christmas Mass available on our YouTube channel.

20/11/20 STATEMENT ON SAFEGUARDING FOLLOWING THE PUBLICATION OF THE IICSA REPORT The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has recently published its investigation report into the Catholic Church in England and Wales. Bishop Byrne CO and the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle fully support the Statement on Safeguarding from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales which you can read here.
